Opportunity:
We are looking for a full-time Infant Toddler Educator for our Child Care Program at Parkgate Community Centre.

Parkgate Society is proud to have several Child Care programs chosen to be $10 a day Child Care Prototypes by the Province of BC. This includes all programs at our Parkgate location in Child Care and School Age Care and our School Age Care program at our Seymour location.

We strive to exceed licensing regulations by having a better than required child / staff ratio and we stay current with the newest standards and best practices of early childhood development learning. Our Child Care Centres are equipped with high quality play equipment, including natural play and art materials. Parkgate Society Child Care philosophy is play-based, family centered and focuses on the social-emotional learning and well-being of the child.

Contract Details:
  • This is a permanent full-time position.
  • Working Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week.
  • Working hours may vary within 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.
  • The wage range is $24.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on experience; note this range is excluding the $6.00 per hour BC Wage Enhancement which will be paid to those in our employ who hold the appropriate certification(s).

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well-being of the children at all times; this includes playground and outside safety, and in all spaces.
  • Establish and maintain regular and ongoing communication with team members, other staff and parents.
  • Review the daily logbook and confidential documentation book at the beginning of each shift and at the end of the shift, adding specifics of the day.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with parents at drop-off or pick-up time about their child.
  • Recognize and respond to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate positive guidance and teaching methods.
  • Participate fully and consistently as a team member in caring for the children and in the overall operations of the programs and centre.
  • Participate in team discussions to encourage children’s creativity, learning and to promote each child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development aligned with the current BC Early Learning Framework and the Code of Ethics.
  • Ensure the Child Care programs are always operating in compliance with all Child Care licensing regulations.
  • As needed, perform other duties as assigned by the Child Care Supervisor or Manager.

Required Qualifications:
  • Current ECE and Infant/Toddler Certificate.
  • A current Child Care First Aid Certificate.
  • A clear Criminal Records Check for Vulnerable Persons.
  • A minimum of six (6) months experience in a licensed group child care setting in BC.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • It would be a bonus if you have a Special Needs Certification and a Food Safe Certificate.
