The Opportunity:
We are looking for a full-time early Childhood Educator (ECE) to join our 3-5 Child Care Program at our Lynn Creek Community Centre location.
Our approach to child care is play-based and family-centered with a focus on each child's social-emotional learning and well-being. We aim to go beyond licensing requirements with a better than required child-to-staff ratio, and we stay current with the latest standards and best practices in early childhood development. Our centers are equipped with high-quality play equipment, including natural play and art materials.
What we Offer:
- A permanent full-time position: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with 7-hour shifts between 7:30 am to 5:45 pm.

- Extended health & dental benefits.
- Professional development opportunities.
- A warm, supportive Parkgate Society team.
- Close to public transit (Phibbs Exchange).
- A beautiful north Vancouver setting, close to parks, beaches, mountain trails, Bridgman Park and all kinds of amenities.
- A shared space at Lynn Creek Community Centre, with excellent programs and fitness facilities offered by the North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission.
What You'll Do:
- Keep children safe and well supervised at all times and in every space, including the playground and outdoors.
- Take an active part in all of the children's activities, including those that involve physical movement.
- Work with your team to plan and lead activities that speak children's creativity & learning and support each child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, in line with the BC Early Learning Framework and the Code of Ethics.
- Recognize & respond to each child's needs using developmentally appropriate, positive guidance.
- Check each child in and out daily using our app, keeping attendance and ratios accurate.
- Connect warmly and with empathy with families at drop-off and pick-up and note anything they share in the daily logbook.
- Review the daily logbook and confidential documentation book at the start and end of each shift; adding details of the day.
- Keep in regular touch with your team, other staff & families, in-person and through our communication apps.
- Be a full and consistent team member in caring for the children and in running the program and centre, using reflective, open communication.
- Lead monthly fire drills, which include exiting by the stairs from the third floor with all children and staff.
- Make sure the program always follows child care licensing regulations and centre policies.
- Take on other duties as assigned by the Child Care Supervisor or Manager.
What You will bring:
- A valid Early Childhood Educator certificate.
- A current child care first aid certificate.
- A clear criminal records check for vulnerable persons.
- At least two (2) years experience in a licensed group child care setting in BC.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
